Better with a crew
There's something about a room full of people hitting bags to music that makes you work harder. Join a friendly group that keeps you turning up, week after week.

Our group fitness classes are 45-minute kickboxing and boxing workouts to music, in a friendly group coached by experienced martial arts instructors. Completely non-contact, for women and men aged 16+ at any fitness level. 8 classes a week in Thornbury, and your first 4 classes are free.
Like a gym class, with real coaching
If you've enjoyed combat-style classes at a gym, you'll feel at home here. The difference is who's out the front: experienced martial arts instructors who teach proper technique and correct you as you go.
The group is social without being cliquey. People say hello, cheer through the last round and know your name after a couple of weeks.
You'll train next to all sorts: first-timers, parents squeezing in a weeknight class, and members who have been coming for years. Come once a week or to all eight classes, whatever suits your week.
What the group gives you
Motivation built in
It's easier to push the last round when everyone around you is pushing too.
Instructors who know you
Small enough that your instructor learns your name, your goals and how to help.
A head-clearer
Forty-five minutes on the bags is one of the best ways to shake off a long day.
What to expect
Say hello. First time? Come 15 minutes early and we'll set you up.
Move together. A group warm-up with the music on.
Hit the bags. Kickboxing and boxing rounds, plus HIIT-style conditioning.
Wind down. A stretch, and maybe a chat on the way out.
I've been training BJJ and Kickboxing at Guests for a few years now. The instructors are EXCELLENT and really know their stuff and the whole vibe at the gym is great.

Group Fitness: your questions answered
Where are group fitness classes near me?
At 272 Dundas St, Thornbury, close to Ivanhoe, Alphington, Clifton Hill and nearby suburbs.
What happens in a group fitness class?
A group warm-up, kickboxing and boxing rounds on the bags, HIIT-style conditioning, then a stretch, all with the music on.
Will I be the only beginner?
Unlikely. New people join all the time, and everyone works at their own level on their own bag.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes. Every new member gets their own 4 free classes and free gloves, so you can start together. Prefer a private start? See small-group lessons.
Is there contact?
No. It's completely non-contact. You strike pads and bags only.
How much do group fitness classes cost?
Once a week is $24.50 a week and unlimited is $39.50 a week, with concessions available. See timetable and prices.
Is group fitness better than training alone?
For many people, yes. A set class time, an instructor planning the session and a group around you make it easier to keep turning up and to work harder.
Is group fitness good for weight loss?
It's a full-body workout that keeps your heart rate up for most of the class. Training regularly, with sensible eating, is what makes the difference, and a group makes it easier to keep turning up.
Do I have to partner up with strangers?
Rarely. Most of the class is individual work on your own bag or tower.
How long is a group fitness class?
45 minutes.
What should I bring?
Comfortable gym clothes, a water bottle and a towel. Gloves are free for new members.
